Jeweller robbed of Rs2.3m, silver bar weighing 1kg on Karimabad flyover

Armed robbers on Thursday snatched Rs2.3 million in cash and a silver bar from a jeweller on the Karimabad flyover within the jurisdiction of Azizabad police station.

The victim, identified as Hassan, was on his way to Boulton Market when three suspects riding two motorcycles intercepted him on the flyover. The incident was partially recorded by the victim on his mobile phone. The video showed the suspects fleeing the scene after committing the robbery. Police said the suspects pulled the key out of the victim’s moving motorcycle, causing it to stop. As soon as the motorcycle halted, the armed robbers pointed weapons at the victim and stole cash kept inside a helmet along with a bag containing silver.

The victim stated the robbers escaped with Rs2.3 million in cash and a one-kilogramme silver bar. A case regarding the incident was registered on Friday at the Azizabad police station against unidentified suspects on the complaint of Hassan.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar also took notice of the robbery incident. According to officials, the home minister directed the District Central SSP to brief him on all necessary police actions taken in connection with the incident. He further instructed the police authorities to ensure the use of modern and advanced investigation techniques for tracing the suspects involved in the robbery.
