Dr Farooq Sattar, MNA and senior leader of the Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), on Thursday announced a series of special three-day programmes across the country to commemorate 9 May 2025 under the title ‘Battle for Truth’ and to celebrate the historic triumph of the Pakistani armed forces over India.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s Bahadurabad headquarters, Dr Sattar stated that on May 9 last year, the armed forces of Pakistan successfully thwarted the sinister designs of enemies and anti-state elements, securing a historic victory that guaranteed stability of the motherland.

Sharing details of the events, Dr Sattar announced that a grand public gathering would be held outside the Karachi Press Club on May 9 where people from different walks of life would gather in large numbers to express their solidarity and affection for the armed forces of the country.

On May 10, a prestigious ceremony would be organised at a local hotel in Karachi to mark one year since the success of the Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos. The event would be attended by members of the business community, industrialists, intellectuals and prominent personalities from various sectors, Dr Sattar said.

Another reception in honour of distinguished citizens of Karachi would also be hosted at the residence of a former Sindh governor. Dr Sattar emphasised that the MQM-Pakistan had always prioritised the dignity of state institutions and national security above all else.

He added that the three-day programme symbolised a renewed pledge that the people of Karachi stood firmly alongside their armed forces and would not allow forces of unrest or the idols of dynastic politics to rise again. Arshad Hassan, Shakeel Ahmed, Zahid Mansoori, Dr Nighat Shakeel, Iftikhar Alam, Fauzia Hamid and Jamal Ahmed were also present at the press conference.
