Killing critical thinking

Pakistan's education system is a national embarrassment. With around 26 million children out of school and graduates flooding job markets unprepared, we churn out rote learners, not thinkers. Critical thinking is systematically absent. In a country battling fake news, corruption and climate crises, this is a catastrophe. Our matric and intermediate exams are memorisation marathons. Students cram outdated textbooks for one-day, forgetting 90 per cent of it by the next week. This colonial hangover rewards parrots, not problem-solvers. Pakistan cannot compete in the AI era with copy-paste minds. Critical thinking is not Western fancy, it is our survival. Fix schools or watch the next generation sink.
