As a media studies graduate, I strongly believe that a free and independent press is the backbone of any democratic society. World Press Freedom Day, observed yesterday, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting journalists and ensuring freedom of expression worldwide.
In many parts of the world, journalists still face censorship, harassment and even violence, making this day even more significant. It is our collective responsibility to support press freedom and respect the vital role journalists play in shaping informed societies.
