Organisers from various groups belonging to the Shia community held a press conference in Karachi on Saturday to announce a large public gathering scheduled for May 3 (Sunday) at Nishtar Park.
The event is being organised to pay tribute to the martyrs of Islam and reaffirm allegiance to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Mojtaba Khamenei.
Speaking at the press conference, organisers stated that all arrangements for the gathering have been finalised. They said the event aims not only to honour the martyrs of the resistance movement but also to promote unity within the Muslim Ummah and strengthen Pakistan’s stability.
Thousands of participants are expected to attend the gathering. In view of the intense heat, organisers have arranged medical camps and water distribution points at and around the venue. Reception camps have also been established at various locations across the city to welcome processions and guide participants arriving from different areas.
The organisers further said that they are working in close coordination with law enforcement agencies to ensure security. Measures include checking at entry and exit points, installation of walk-through gates, CCTV surveillance, and deployment of trained volunteers to maintain a peaceful and secure environment.
The press conference further stated that the gathering will be addressed by MWM Chairman and Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, head of Tehreek-e-Bedari Ummat-e-Mustafa Jawad Naqvi, Central President of ISO Syed Amin Shirazi, prominent Gilgit-Baltistan scholar Rahat Hussain Al-Husseini, Bishop of Karachi and Balochistan Frederick John, along with other political, social, and religious figures.
The organisers urged the public to participate in large numbers, stating that the gathering would serve as a practical demonstration of unity, awareness, and collective strength for the nation.
Among those present at the press conference were Allama Sadiq Jafri, Allama Asghar Shahidi, Aun Rizvi, Ali Haider Kazmi, and representatives of Tehreek-e-Bedari.
