HYDERABAD: A leader of the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, Khalid Qadri, was seriously injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him in Latifabad Unit 8 on Friday.
According to police and the FIR lodged on the complaint of his brother, Muhammad Haris Khan, the incident occurred when Qadri was returning home after offering Friday prayers at a local mosque.
Three armed suspects riding a motorcycle allegedly intercepted him, confirmed his identity, and then opened fire with the intent to kill.
As per the FIR, Qadri sustained multiple bullet injuries and was immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital Hyderabad by locals, where doctors said his condition is stable and he is expected to recover.
SSP Hyderabad Shahzeb Chachar and Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro visited the hospital and inquired about his health.
Hyderabad police said CCTV footage shows three suspects involved in the attack, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest them.
Authorities have launched an investigation, collecting evidence from the crime scene while raids are being conducted to apprehend the suspects.
