A 13-year-old girl was killed while her mother was injured in a knife attack at a house in Malir’s Yar Muhammad Goth area, police said on Friday.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Shah Latif Town police station, where both victims were attacked inside their home. The injured woman was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
Police identified the deceased as Iqra, daughter of Abdul Karim, and the injured woman as 47-year-old Arbabzadi, wife of Abdul Karim.
According to initial investigations, the attack was carried out by the victim’s brother-in-law over a domestic dispute. The suspect, identified as Ghulam who is the son-in-law of the injured woman — allegedly stabbed both victims, killing the girl on the spot and injuring her mother.
The accused fled the scene after the incident. Police have collected evidence from the crime scene and launched a search operation to apprehend the suspect.
