PESHAWAR: Scholars and researchers of the Uthmankhel tribe have called for greater political, economic, and development opportunities for their community, which they claim is the largest tribe in Pakistan, settled across Bajaur, Mohmand, Malakand, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, and other parts of the country.

The demand was made during a meeting of the Uthmankhel Think Tank held at the Research Library in Peshawar, chaired by Dr. Fasihuddin Ashraf, Patron-in-Chief of the Uthmankhel tribe.

The meeting was attended by a large number of scholars and prominent figures, including Prof. Dr. Fakhrul Islam, Prof Yar Muhammad Tofaan, Prof Dr Aftab, Dr Muhammad Ayaz, Prof Anwar Ali, Dr Tariq Uthman, Prof Dr Idrees, Prof. Iqbal Shakir, Dr Nisar Shamozai, Sajid Afghan, Sher Muhammad Khan, Advocate Muhammad Younas Khan, Prof Mehran, Rahmanullah Rahmani, Javed Khan, Nadeem Khan, and former finance minister Muzaffar Said, among others.

Participants discussed the structure and future functions of a proposed grand “Majlis-e-Shoora” for the Uthmankhel tribe, which is expected to be formed soon with representation from all districts.
