Data Darbar expansion, other projects inspected

LAHORE: Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal visited the Data Darbar Expansion Project and the under-construction Bhati Chowk Underpass to review the progress of ongoing development works.

During the visit, LDA DG Tahir Farooq and TEPA Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain briefed the Secretary Housing on various aspects of the projects. They informed that the piling work of the Bhati Chowk Underpass will be completed within the next three to four days, while excavation and construction of retaining walls are also progressing rapidly.

The briefing stated that more than 40 percent work on the Bhati Chowk Underpass project has been completed. Secretary Housing directed the officials concerned to further accelerate the pace of construction so that the facility can be made available to citizens at the earliest.

Later, secretary also reviewed different sections of the Data Darbar Expansion Project, including the construction of pedestrian walkways and the upgradation of building facades under the remodeling plan.

Officials informed that nearly 70 percent work on the Data Darbar Expansion Project has been completed, while the remaining work is continuing as per schedule.Secretary directed that all necessary arrangements and safety SOPs must be strictly implemented at construction sites to ensure the safety of visitors and pedestrians. He stated that on the CM’s instructions, this major project has been introduced to facilitate devotees and visitors coming to Data Darbar, which will improve traffic flow and help resolve long-standing issues faced by citizens.
