ALPURI: Prolonged and severe power outages have intensified across most areas of Shangla district, severely disrupting daily life.

Residents and members of the traders’ association said that businesses were already struggling due to weekly increases in fuel prices, but unannounced and extended load-shedding has worsened the situation, bringing commercial activity to a near standstill and paralyzing routine life.

In Alpuri, the district headquarters, as well as Ranial, Kotkay, Lilownai, Kana, Shahpur and other localities, electricity supply through various feeders remains suspended for hours at a time, which has now become a routine matter.

Traders and residents complained that faults frequently develop in different feeders and are not repaired in a timely manner, resulting in outages lasting several hours and sometimes even an entire day. Local traders stated that small electricity-dependent businesses, including welding shops, tailors, laboratories, flour mills, mobile repair shops and other skilled trades, are on the verge of complete shutdown.
