PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has postponed elections for district and tehsil bar associations across the province in light of a recent Peshawar High Court ruling.
According to an official statement issued by the council, all election-related activities have been suspended following the court’s decision dated April 29, 2026. The bar council has directed all election boards to immediately halt the ongoing electoral process.
The statement further said that the elections scheduled for May 6, 2026, along with all prior notifications issued by the Pakistan Bar Council and the provincial bar council regarding these polls, had been suspended.However, the council clarified that electoral steps already completed will remain valid.
