Anti-thalassemia efforts linked to awareness raising

PESHAWAR: The speakers at a function here on Friday emphasized that efforts to control thalassemia cannot succeed without raising public awareness.

“The Frontier Foundation has decided to observe Thalassemia Awareness Week and celebrate World Thalassemia Day on May 8 with full enthusiasm,” said Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem, chairman of the charity hospital, while addressing the participants. Sahibzada Haleem said that the organization has been actively conducting awareness campaigns on thalassemia since its inception.

“Seminars and events in educational institutions have been a key part of these efforts, “ he explained, reiterating that the eradication of thalassemia remains the organization’s mission and that these efforts will continue.Later, responsibilities were assigned to the relevant departments, and instructions were issued to finalize all necessary arrangements to mark World Thalassemia Day on May 8.
