HARIPUR: Minister for Labour Faisal Khan Tarakai on Friday said a socioeconomic survey of brick kiln workers had been completed and its final report would support policy-making and targeted interventions in the near future.
Addressing a function to mark the International Labour Day at Hattar Labour Colony here, he said that it was among the priorities of the provincial government to determine minimum wages through a formal mechanism, ensure gender equality, safeguard the rights of minorities, and eliminate discriminatory laws.
Tarakai added the government-appointed female labour inspectors to protect and strengthen the protection mechanism against exploitation and discrimination of women workers.The minister said that industrial workers were being provided comprehensive support in cases of illness, accidents, and workplace deaths, along with improved healthcare services.He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing workers with dignified employment, social protection, and equal opportunities through effective and sustainable measures.
