AVCC arrests two suspects in short-term kidnapping case

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) on Thursday arrested two suspects involved in a short-term kidnapping case. According to the police, on April 22, the victim, Mutaal Khan, left his home in Karachi for Lahore when he was allegedly abducted by unidentified armed men in a white Vigo vehicle. The suspects subjected him to torture and later extorted ransom by accessing his digital accounts.

The police said the abductors transferred 8,600 USDT from the victim’s digital wallet and also took an iPhone 17 Pro Max, a Samsung mobile phone, and an M4 laptop as ransom before releasing him near the Korangi Industrial Area.

A case was registered at the Airport police station under FIR No. 52/2026, under Section 365-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. The investigation was later transferred to the AVCC. Acting on technical leads, the police conducted an operation within the jurisdiction of the Airport police station and arrested two suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as Hamza Rizwan, son of Rizwan Habib, and Saleem Aleem, son of Aleem Hanif. The police said interrogation of the suspects wad ongoing, and further revelations were expected.
