Madadgar-15 should be aligned with modern requirements: city police chief

Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan on Wednesday chaired an important meeting at the Karachi Police Office to review the performance and progress of Madadgar-15.

Officials said the meeting was attended by DIG Admin, DIG Security and Emergency, and SSP Madadgar-15. The SSP Madadgar-15 gave a detailed briefing on the unit’s overall performance, redressal of public complaints, response time, and improvements in service delivery. The Additional IG Karachi issued necessary instructions to further enhance the effectiveness of Madadgar-15, improve public facilitation, and ensure timely resolution of complaints.

The police chief emphasised that providing prompt and quality services to citizens is the top priority of Karachi police, adding that the Madadgar-15 system should be aligned with modern requirements. He also appreciated the performance of the Milaap Unit, terming its services commendable.

Meanwhile, the successful conduct of all Pakistan Super League (PSL-11) matches at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi witnessed outstanding security arrangements, ensuring the safety and convenience of players and officials throughout the event. Over 5,000 law enforcement personnel were deployed at key locations, including the stadium, airport, routes, hotels, practice grounds, and parking areas.

The security forces, comprising personnel from the Security Division, Special Security Unit (SSU) commandos, including lady commandos, traffic police, Special Branch, district police, and other law enforcement agencies, demonstrated professionalism, vigilance, and coordination during the entire series of matches.

IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho, Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, and DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Dr Maqsood Ahmed, while commending the personnel for their remarkable performance, conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to all officers and officials for their unwavering commitment and dedication in ensuring a peaceful environment. The IGP Sindh emphasised that their tireless efforts played a vital role in the smooth and secure conduct of PSL-11.

Comprehensive security measures, including the deployment of sharpshooters at sensitive locations, strict surveillance through CCTV monitoring, and the operational readiness of the SWAT team as a quick response force, significantly strengthened the overall security framework. The SSU Command and Control Bus also played a key role in maintaining real-time monitoring and swift response capabilities.

DIG Security expressed appreciation for the collective efforts of all stakeholders, stating that the successful completion of PSL-11 matches reflected strong coordination between the Sindh government, law enforcement agencies, and the public.

Polio drive

A meeting was held with representatives of the polio eradication team regarding the Polio Booster Campaign 2026 under the chairmanship of Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, the police spokesperson said.

The campaign arrangements, security and coordination issues were reviewed in detail in the meeting, which was attended by DIGs, SSPs, UNICEF officers and other relevant authorities. The polio booster campaign will continue from May 11 to May 24. Children up to the age of 10 will be given a booster dose of polio vaccine.

Foolproof security arrangements and complete coordination with relevant institutions should be ensured during the campaign so that the campaign can be made a success in every way, said Additional IG Azad Khan.
