LAHORE:A balanced and safe diet should be consumed to strengthen the immune system and avoid various medical complications.
These views were expressed by Prof Dr Israr-ul-Haq Toor, Professor of Medicine, Mayo Hospital, Lahore, here while delivering a lecture. He stated that the foundation of a healthy society rests on clean water, quality nutrition and an improved lifestyle. With the onset of summer, the risks of waterborne diseases such as Hepatitis, Typhoid, Cholera and Diarrhea significantly increase. To prevent these, it is essential to adhere to hygiene principles and maintain a clean environment. He advised citizens to adopt the habit of drinking boiled water and strictly avoid substandard market beverages, open food, and pre-cut fruits, as contaminated water and poor-quality food are the leading causes of liver diseases.
He emphasised that a balanced and safe diet should be consumed to strengthen the immune system and avoid various medical complications. He noted that timely precautionary measures are highly effective against fatal diseases like Hepatitis. Therefore, the public should follow the advice of qualified medical experts and make cleanliness a part of their daily routine. He concluded by saying that promoting a pollution-free environment and a healthy lifestyle is the only way to ensure the formation of a strong and energetic society.
