LAHORE: Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorm lashed various parts of the country, including the provincial capital here on Tuesday.

The heavy rain struck various city localities, including Johar Town, Canal Road, Gulberg, Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Township, Chungi Amar Sadhu, Multan Road, Wahdat Road and Allama Iqbal Town, Muslim Town, Ichhra, Mughalpura, Shahdara and etc.

Following the rain, field formations of Wasa and district administration came out on the roads and started cleaning operations. Wasa MD Ghufran Ahmed and DC Lahore Capt ® Ali Ejaz monitored the situation.

The average AQI of the city was 124, which fell in the category of unhealthy for sensitive groups while the PM2.5 concentration was 5.3 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value.

Met office predicted hot but partly cloudy weather during the next 24 hours. They warned the citizens to increase water intake to avoid dehydration.
