LAHORE: Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed unanimous resolution while celebrating the first year of the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos launched after India invaded Pakistan in 2025.
The resolution was moved by PMLN Chief Whip Rana Muhammad Arshad.‘Punjab openly acknowledges that the state institutions, the armed forces of Pakistan, and the Government of Pakistan have demonstrated exemplary resolve, strategy, and sacrifices to rid the country of the scourge of terrorism’ the resolution states. ‘The House particularly appreciated the successful launch and continuation of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. It is described as the practical realisation of the vision of Nawaz Sharif’ it states further. After the APS tragedy on December 16, 2014, Nawaz Sharif had pledged that terrorists would not be forgiven under any circumstances, it further states. ‘The House pays tribute to the tireless efforts of the Government of Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Prime Minister advanced this critical national security mission with full determination’ says the text of the resolution ‘The House salutes the professional capabilities, courage, and sacrifices of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the armed forces of Pakistan.
Under his leadership, Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos has successfully completed one year’ it says. The operation is still ongoing successfully, and effective responses are being given to hostile elements says the resolution, adding the House also appreciates Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq. ‘Under this operation, actions against terrorist elements present in Afghanistan are continuing successfully. A clear message has been sent to the enemy that no compromise will be made on Pakistan’s sovereignty and security’ says the resolution moved by Rana Muhammad Arshad.
The House also appreciates the success of Marka-e-Haq, which was recognised at the international level.As a result, Pakistan’s image as a strong, peaceful, and responsible state has been further strengthened’ it says.
Earlier, the Punjab Assembly session began with a delay of 1 hour and 25 minutes under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Zaheer Iqbal Channar. Speaking on the floor, Amjad Ali Javed said that repeatedly submitting the same question under different titles is a waste of time and goes against the standards of serious legislation. Law Minister Rana Iqbal stated that he came to the House fully prepared and that there should be no obstacles to public service. The Deputy Speaker remarked that ministers must realise their responsibilities. Opposition member Major (Rtd) Iqbal Khattak said that instead of blaming others, members should also review their own performance, adding that low attendance in the House is a serious issue. Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat informed the House that funds have been released to make the University of Mianwali functional, and new projects will provide better facilities to students. During the Question Hour in the PA session, an interesting exchange of remarks was witnessed between Treasury and opposition members. Opposition member Major (Rtd) Iqbal Khattak expressed concern over members’ attendance in the House, while Provincial Minister Rana Iqbal responded that absenteeism should be discouraged. During the session, Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat stated that new educational institutions are being established without considering whether student numbers are low or high in specific areas. Later, the House unanimously passed four resolutions related to population, smog, security, and sports. The session was adjourned by the Panel of Chairperson Samiullah Khan until today (Wednesday).
