LAHORE: The All-Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions held an emergency meeting chaired by General Secretary Khurshid Ahmed to review the impact of rising petroleum prices.

Representatives from irrigation, PWD, banking, transport, construction, electricity and textile sectors attended.

Speakers said higher fuel prices and essential commodity costs have intensified hardships for workers and low-income groups. They added that increased electricity and gas tariffs, along with rising expenses on education, medicines and transport, have worsened living conditions.

The participants urged the government to withdraw the recent fuel price hike, enhance conveyance allowances in line with transport fares, and create employment opportunities for youth.
