ASI suspended for releasing suspect

LAHORE : An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was suspended for allegedly releasing a suspect instead of taking action after narcotics recovery.

SP City Atif Ameer said an inquiry was initiated after a video of the incident went viral. ASI Iftikhar has been suspended, and strict departmental action has been assured.

Passengers rescued from burning car

Motorway Police safely rescued passengers from a car that caught fire on the M-2 Motorway.

According to the spokesperson for the Central Region, a car traveling from Lahore to Peshawar caught fire near Sheikhupura. Police responded promptly and rescued all four passengers along with their belongings.

Motorway Police and FWO fire tenders extinguished the fire and ensured traffic flow remained uninterrupted.

DSP Hameed Ullah supervised the operation. The damaged vehicle was later shifted through FWO recovery service. All passengers remained safe.

Two drug suspects arrested

Shad Bagh Police arrested two suspects and foiled a drug supply attempt.

According to the spokesperson, during a crackdown under the supervision of SP City, suspects Usama and Fayyaz were arrested. Police recovered 40 kilograms of dry poppy husk from their possession and registered cases against them.

Directive to arrest suspects

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has taken notice of the incident in Basti Chandia area of Bhakkar, where five people were killed and six others injured as a result of firing between two groups over a land dispute, and has sought a report from the RPO Sargodha.

IG Punjab, while ordering the DPO Bhakkar to immediately arrest the suspects involved in the firing, said that all resources should be utilized for the arrest of the accused.

Punjab Police spokesperson said that senior police officers and forensic teams reached the spot and collected evidence.

DPO Bhakkar said that special teams have been formed for the arrest of the suspects and they will be apprehended soon.

Punjab Police spokesperson further said that the accused and the deceased are relatives of each other, while the dispute occurred over land.
