The central council of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Karachi division held a meeting on Friday under the chairmanship of its Karachi president Allama Sadiq Jafri to review preparations for a large public gathering scheduled for May 3 at the Nishtar Park.
The meeting was attended by members of the Karachi Division cabinet, including Allama Mubashir Hassan, Asif Safvi, Kaleem Raza, Zeeshan Haider and Kazim Abbas, along with representatives and office-bearers from different districts. The participants conducted a detailed review of arrangements, preparations and the publicity campaign for the grand rally, which is being organised by Shia organisations.
During the meeting, tribute was paid to the martyrs of the resistance movement, and participants reaffirmed their commitment to the mission of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei and others. The attendees also reiterated their pledge of allegiance and support to the current leadership.
Addressing the meeting, Jafri said the May 3 gathering would reflect the unity, awareness and commitment to resistance of the Jafaria community. He added that besides the Shia organisations, leaders from other schools of thought, political and religious parties, social figures and a large number of citizens were expected to participate in the gathering.
He said preparations for the rally were being finalised, and responsibilities related to administration, security, reception, publicity, transport and public outreach had been assigned to officials across various districts.
The council decided to continue an extensive publicity campaign across the city to ensure the success of the event. It was also agreed to expand outreach through mosques, imambargahs, public gatherings and engagement with political and religious circles. The meeting emphasised that the rally would serve as a strong public message of unity, support for resistance and opposition to global oppression.
Jafri criticised the United States and Israel, accusing them of being responsible for unrest, terrorism and violence against Muslims in the region. He said the ongoing aggression in Gaza, Lebanon and other affected areas was a stain on humanity.
Condemning the US-Israel alliance, he stated that such forces had failed to suppress the spirit of resistance, and the Jafaria community would continue to support the oppressed people at every level.
He added that the May 3 rally would serve as a historic occasion to express solidarity with oppressed communities worldwide and to send a clear message against imperial powers. The participants of the meeting appealed to the public to ensure maximum attendance at the rally.
