GHALLANI: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, said on Friday that over the past 13 years, the PTI government had “pushed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the brink of destruction” and failed to ensure development or secure the release of “Prisoner No. 804.”
She was speaking at a gathering during her visit to the Mohmand district. She visited Ekkaghund Hospital and later addressed a women’s wing gathering in Mohmand district. The gathering was held at the residence of PPP provincial leader Dr. Alamzeb and was attended by MPAs Ashbar Jadoon, Mehr Sultana, Qazi Musarrat, Shazia Tomas, district president Malik Israeel Safi, Fazal Hadi, and Jangrez Mohmand, among others. Dr. Alamzeb presented a memorandum highlighting public issues.
Rubina Khalid also criticised the provincial government for holding assembly meetings in stadiums, calling it a sign of incompetence, and assured that issues related to government offices in Mohmand would be resolved soon.
The senator said that around 10 million poor families were benefiting from the Benazir Income Support Programme. She further announced that, in line with the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, a mobile survey under the programme will be launched from June.
Rubina Khalid said that tribal people were given identity and rights under the Pakistan People’s Party, adding that her party does not believe in abusive politics and focuses on practical steps and service delivery.Rubina Khalid and other leaders said that, under the instructions of President Asif Ali Zardari, BISP would formally begin a mobile survey and registration process at centres from June 6.
