BANNU: Police in Bannu have arrested two persons, including an Afghan facilitator, in a major operation against the illegal acquisition of Pakistani Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) through fraudulent means.

According to police, a credible tip-off was received by District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Yasir Afridi, revealing that Afghan national Shaukatullah, a resident of Amin Mughalkhel in the jurisdiction of Ghoriwala Police Station, had illegally obtained a Pakistani CNIC by paying a huge sum of money and falsely being registered as a member of a local Pakistani family.

Taking immediate action, the DPO ordered a raid, following which SHO Ghoriwala Police Station, along with a team, conducted a successful operation and arrested the Afghan national Shaukatullah along with his alleged facilitator Yasir Khan, son of Aliullah Khan.

Police officials said preliminary investigations revealed that Yasir Khan, for financial gain, had fraudulently included Shaukatullah in his family records and assisted him in obtaining the CNIC through forged documentation. Both suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement during interrogation.
