Rawalpindi:Residents of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have been facing severe difficulties in commuting to offices and other destinations due to the suspension of the Metro Bus Service (MBS) and several other transport options for the past eight days.

The limited number of vehicles currently operating are confined within city limits and are charging exorbitant, unregulated fares. Taxi drivers are demanding double or even triple the usual rates, while Qingqi rickshaw drivers and motorbike riders have also significantly increased fares, exploiting commuters for over a week.

The situation has created immense hardships for the public, particularly for residents of Rawalpindi. Women, especially those employed in the private sector who travel daily to offices, malls, and workplaces, are among the worst affected.
