ISLAMABAD: Reacting to the imposition of a tax of Rs1,000 per KV by the Nepra on those using solar power, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Thursday charged that the “incompetent, extravagant and corrupt” rulers had now imposed tax on sunlight to fulfill their luxuries and lavish lifestyle.

“Water is already taxed. If the Pakistani people do not rise up against these oppressors, then after sunlight, only air (oxygen) is left, on which this elite will soon impose a tax,” warned the party’s central leader Aamir Mughal in a statement.

Pakistan, he regretted, was an unfortunate country in the world that, despite having all kinds of resources, was being crushed in the mill of poverty due to the extravagant group imposed on Pakistan.

He remarked, “This incompetent ruling clique is increasing its privileges and luxuries day by day”.

Mughal contended that the privileges of the Supreme Court, NA speaker, Senate chairman, bureaucracy, and politicians and expensive loans from the IMF and the luxury given to them and the corruption committed by the rulers are paid for by imposing taxes on the people.

“This is the reason why after imposing extremely cruel taxes on petrol, gas, electricity, and all the things of daily use, the illegitimate government has now also announced to impose a “sunshine tax” on the poor people who get electricity from the solar system installed with their own money,” he lamented.
