ISLAMABAD: Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah could not record witness statements in the audio leak case due to the absence of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Gandapur did not appear in court and a request seeking exemption from attendance on his behalf was accepted. However, because of his absence, the statements of the prosecution witnesses could not be recorded. The court summoned the witnesses again for the next hearing and adjourned proceedings until May 18.
A case against Gandapur had been registered at the Golra Police Station.
Meanwhile, the hearing of a case against the founder of PTI for allegedly threatening a female judge, pending before Civil Judge Mian Azhar Nadeem, was also adjourned due to the absence of a response from the Islamabad High Court. The court was informed that no reply had yet been received to a letter seeking permission to conduct the trial in jail. The hearing was adjourned until May 15 without further proceedings.
A case in this regard had been registered at the Margalla Police Station.
Separately, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal adjourned the hearing of the murder case of Islamic University student Iman Afroz due to the judge’s unavailability. The court was scheduled to record statements from additional prosecution witnesses, but no proceedings could take place. The hearing was adjourned until May 11.
