Armed robbers shot and injured a petrol pump owner before fleeing with Rs7.5 million in cash near the main gate of New Sabzi Mandi on the Super Highway, police said.

The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the SITE Super Highway police station where three suspects intercepted the victim’s car and snatched the cash. The assailants opened fire when the victim offered resistance, injuring him in the leg.

A video of the incident has also surfaced, showing the three suspects on a motorcycle chasing a white car. The footage showed the suspects forcing the vehicle to stop at gunpoint, with one attacker placing a motorcycle in front of the car to block its path. During the robbery, the suspects shot the petrol pump owner in the leg. As they fled, two of the assailants standing behind the vehicle continued firing at its rear tyres.

Police said the suspects took the cash from the car and initially fled on foot onto the Super Highway. They later snatched a motorcycle from a citizen present at the scene and escaped. The injured victim was shifted to a hospital for immediate medical treatment.
