From extreme heatwaves to sudden urban flooding, cities like Karachi are clearly not prepared to handle these challenges. Poor drainage systems, unchecked construction and the loss of green areas have made the situation worse. Even light rainfall can now disrupt normal life.
There is a need for practical steps such as better waste management, protection of natural water channels and increased plantation in urban areas.
