CHITRAL: After more than a month of displacement, residents of the border area of Arandu in Lower Chitral have finally returned to their homes following a ceasefire between Pakistan and Faghan forces.

Families who had temporarily relocated to safer areas, including Drosh, began arriving back in Arandu amid improved security conditions. Upon their return, they were warmly received by personnel of the Chitral Scouts, who welcomed them and facilitated their resettlement.

On the occasion, Wing Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mudassir, along with other officers, visited the area, interacted with residents, and reviewed the situation in local markets and surrounding neighborhoods. Emotional scenes were witnessed as returning families expressed joy and relief. Crowds raised slogans in support of Pakistan and its armed forces, while many embraced soldiers and presented them with garlands as a gesture of gratitude.

Addressing the residents, Lieutenant Colonel Mudassir reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces to defend the country and ensure the safety of its citizens. He said that no hostile elements would be allowed to threaten the region or its people, and praised the resilience and patriotism of the local community.

The restoration of peace in Arandu is now being seen as a hopeful sign for a stable and secure future in the region. The ceasefire was brokered through the efforts of local elders a few days back.
