HANGU: At least three houses collapsed during road construction work in Thall tehsil of Hangu district after excavation weakened the ground structure. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to residents, the incident occurred along Bannu Road, where heavy machinery was being used for digging. Affected families said they had repeatedly warned the contractor to halt excavation near their homes, but the work continued, ultimately causing severe structural damage.
The owners of the affected houses, including Haji Ghazi Khan, Malik Noor-ul-Haq, and Saifullah, stated that the collapse resulted in losses worth millions of rupees. They also claimed that the contractor and workers fled the scene immediately after the incident.
The residents carried out rescue efforts on their own, helping the affected families recover belongings from the debris.
The victims have demanded strict action against the contractor and immediate compensation for their losses. Meanwhile, an official of the Thall Police Station said that the contractor had assured that full support would be provided to the victims, including compensation for the financial damage.
