QUETTA: A heated exchange took place in the Balochistan Assembly on Thursday between Speaker Captain (R) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai and Maulana Hidayatur Rehman of the

Haq Do Tehreek, leading to the Maulana’s brief suspension, which was later revoked on the Chief Minister’s request and the House’s approval.

During the session, Maulana Hidayatur Rehman and National Party MPA Mir Rehmat Baloch attempted to speak on a point of order, but as multiple members sought the floor simultaneously, the proceedings became disorderly. Amid the chaos, Mir Rahmat Saleh Baloch staged a walkout after not being allowed to speak.

An exchange of harsh remarks also took place between the Speaker and Maulana Hidayatur Rehman. The Speaker warned that running the House strictly according to rules would create difficulties, to which Maulana Hidayatur Rehman responded by calling it a “drama of rulings.”

The Speaker replied that as custodian of the House, he could not tolerate disrespect towards the Assembly. Provincial Minister Zahoor Buledi suggested that a dedicated session should be held to educate members on parliamentary etiquette. Following that, the Speaker suspended Maulana Hidayatur Rehman for the rest of the day’s session and directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort him out of the House, after which he left the Assembly proceedings.

However, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti requested the Speaker to recall the legislator. The Speaker then sought the House’s opinion, and members supported allowing Maulana Hidayatur Rehman back into the session.

Later, Maulana Hidayatur Rehman returned to the Assembly and resumed participation in the proceedings.
