ISLAMABAD: A hearing of petitions, filed by the accused in Khawar Maneka torture case, continued in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Judge Tahir Abbas Supra on Thursday, where arguments were presented regarding the removal of terrorism charges.

Advocate Babar Awan appeared before the court. Defence counsel completed arguments on petitions filed by accused Fathullah Burki and Zahid Bashir Dar, seeking to strike out terrorism provisions from the case. However, arguments on a similar petition filed by Naeem Haider Panjotha could not be presented.

The judge observed that all petitions were based on identical grounds and would be decided together after completion of arguments, rather than separately.

The court directed the prosecution to present its arguments at the next hearing and adjourned proceedings until May 7.

The case pertains to alleged torture of Khawar Maneka, with a case registered against PTI-affiliated lawyers at Ramna Police Station.
