Cop martyred, 2 militants killed in Hangu clash

HANGU: A policeman embraced martyrdom and another sustained injuries while two militants were killed and several injured in a clash in the Hangu district.

Officials said that a fierce exchange of fire between police and militants in Hangu led to a security operation in the district.According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) of Kohat, Irfan Tariq, the operation was carried out in Baghto Top, Sarki, and Chambah Gul areas, where police engaged militants in intense clashes.

He said that two militants were killed and several others injured during the operation.

In the exchange of fire, one policeman embraced martyrdom, while another sustained injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. A heavy contingent of police took part in the operation led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Amjad Hussain and Station House Officer Fayyaz Khan.

Residents came out of their homes and assisted security forces during the operation.

The RPO added that the clearance operation, which had been ongoing for several hours, would continue until the complete elimination of militants in the area was ensured.
