Efforts for Shangla uplift underlined

ALPURI: The speakers at a one-day workshop on Wednesday highlighted the efforts for the relief and uplift of Shangla and stressed the need for its continuity to put the district on track to development.

Arranged by the non-governmental organisation NIDA Pakistan at the Jirga Hall in Alpuri, Shangla deputy commissioner, officials from various government departments, heads of institutions, personnel and media representatives in large numbers attended the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, NIDA Pakistan’s Programme Director Muhammad Arif said that the organisation had successfully completed over 40 projects since 2008 during natural disasters and various emergencies.

Referring to the recent floods, he said that NIDA Pakistan in collaboration with CBM, provided immediate relief to flood-affected people and also completed the restoration and reconstruction of several damaged water supply schemes and bridges.

He said that the organisation was also taking steps to empower persons with disabilities by working on their registration, protection, and identification to help make them self-reliant.Arif added that NIDA Pakistan in coordination with the Agriculture and Livestock departments was continuing development activities in various village councils of Shangla.
