A top-level meeting chaired by Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Wednesday reviewed progress in ongoing mega development projects in Karachi.
He issued directives to ensure timely completion of the projects to ensure immediate public relief.
The meeting brought together senior officials from relevant departments. Detailed discussions were held on the progress of ongoing schemes, challenges being faced, and the future course of action.
Seven major development schemes were comprehensively reviewed, and an effective strategy was devised to ensure their completion within stipulated timelines. The local government minister emphasised that all projects must be delivered on schedule to provide maximum relief to the citizens.
He noted that the completion of these projects would significantly improve traffic flow across Karachi, leading to substantial savings in both time and fuel for commuters.
He underscored that there would be no compromise on quality or transparency, and asserted that all development work was being carried out in accordance with international standards.
The meeting deliberated on the construction of flyovers and underpasses with a decision to build additional infrastructure on key arteries of the city to provide a sustainable solution to long-standing traffic congestion issues.
Shah highlighted that the extensive experience of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) was being effectively utilised in executing these mega projects. He stressed the importance of strong coordination among utility service providers noting that closer engagement with federal institutions remained essential for further improvement.
He maintained that any issues involving the federal agencies would be taken up with the chief minister to ensure swift resolution through consultation at all levels.
It was agreed during the meeting that all encroachments hindering development work would be removed immediately to avoid delays and ensure the timely completion.
Among those in attendance were senior officers, including Brigadier Adnan, Fayyaz Ahmed, Abdul Ghani Sheikh, Junaid Ahmed and Tanveer Ahmed Khan representing EA Consultants, along with the additional chief secretary of the local government department.
