Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the relief provided to citizens, business community and traders from land grabbers, mafias, and illegal encroachments.

Officials said the government of Sindh has taken a major and effective step to address land encroachments, illegal occupations, and public complaints by convening the fourth meeting of the especially constituted committee.

During the meeting, progress reports were presented by relevant departments, indicating that a total of 23 cases had been brought before the committee. Out of these, 4 cases have been resolved, while the remaining cases were discussed point-by-point, with directives issued for their swift resolution.

Lanjar said the primary objective of the committee is to protect traders, investors, and the public from land mafias and illegal occupiers. He directed that all matters falling under the category of illegal occupation must be promptly registered as FIRs, and those involved should be arrested without delay.

He emphasized that land mafias will not be tolerated at any cost, as such elements not only deprive citizens of their rights but also hinder the province’s economic growth. He added that the government’s top priority is to resolve the issues of the business community, protect investments, and ensure a conducive business environment.

The home minister further said that the committee was established to provide immediate relief to traders and citizens, and its formation was directed under the instructions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He reaffirmed that the government stands firmly with the business community and will continue to take all possible measures to resolve their issues.

The Karachi commissioner was directed to submit a progress report within 15 days regarding the resolution of all pending cases so that matters can be concluded promptly.

Representatives of the business community who attended the meeting appreciated the government’s efforts, stating that they are grateful for the timely hearings and immediate actions against land mafias. They vowed full support and cooperation with all positive initiatives taken by the government.

The meeting was attended by ACS Home Iqbal Memon, Senior Member Board of Revenue, IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho, Secretary Land Utilization, DG KDA, DG Malir Development Authority, Commissioner Karachi, and Chairman Anti-Corruption. Representatives of the business community included the Chairman ABAD, President KCCI, FPCCI, and KATI.
