FIA arrests four suspects with 1.4bn Iranian rials in Gulshan

The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Commercial Banking Circle (CBC) Karachi arrested four suspects during a raid against illegal foreign currency dealers, an FIA spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The raid was conducted on the directives of the Director Karachi Zone at a flat located in Five Star Plaza, Block 13-C, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The arrested suspects were identified as Syed Manzar Abbas Naqvi, Kashif, Wasey-ur-Rehman, and Shameem Raza. According to officials, the suspects were involved in the illegal buying and selling of Iranian rials and Saudi riyals.

During the operation, authorities recovered 35,500 Saudi riyals and approximately 1.4 billion Iranian rials from the suspects’ possession. In addition, four mobile phones and a laptop were also seized.

The FIA spokesperson said the suspects confessed to their involvement in the illegal business at the spot, and all recovered items have been taken into custody.

The accused have been shifted to the FIA CBC Karachi police station, where a case has been registered against them.
