Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Tuesday visited the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) to review the ongoing vaccination of children in transit.
Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khoso, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Khalid Bukhari, Coordinator of the Commissioner Karachi Polio Task Force Saud Yaqub, and other officials briefed the commissioner during the visit.
Officials said that vaccination arrangements had been made in high-risk union councils and hospitals. The commissioner was informed that, along with the ongoing door-to-door anti-polio campaign, a special initiative had been launched to vaccinate children in transit at hospitals across the city.
Children visiting the hospital were described as a priority group for vaccination, as a large number of patients arrive daily from different parts of the country. Officials stated that around 1,000 children visit the hospital each day, including those accompanying patients from other cities.
Naqvi directed that every child must be administered polio drops and emphasised the need for special vaccination arrangements at the hospital and other major hospitals.
