TIMERGARA: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ) Youth Wing, President Kamran Saeed Usmani said on Wednesday that media was the fourth pillar of the state and maintaining positive and effective relations with the journalist community was essential for strengthening democracy.
He was talking to journalists during his visit to the Timergara Press Club.He led a delegation including Amanullah Qureshi, Sehlan Farooq, Sameer Samson, Tayyab Shehzad, Malik Furqanuddin, Nadeem Sherwani and Usama Jameel. Kamran Saeed Usmani, who is Adviser on Auqaf and Religious Affairs Punjab, and Convener of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Friendship Forum, said the media played a vital role in strengthening the democratic system, adding that a free and responsible press was indispensable for a stable Pakistan. He added that his party believed in maintaining cordial relations with journalists.
“Currently, I am visiting various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of organisational tours aimed at activating the party’s youth wing and providing young people with opportunities to play an active role in the political process,” he said.
Usmani observed that youth were a valuable asset to the country and said their integration into the national mainstream was the need of the hour.Timergara Press Club President Muhammad Haleem Asad welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the role of journalists in Lower Dir, the state of responsible journalism, and the challenges faced by the media community in the area.Usmani listened to the concerns of the journalists and assured them that all possible steps would be taken to address their issues.
