PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday allowed a writ petition filed against the non-payment of benevolent funds to an officer of the Mines and Minerals Department who retired eight years ago.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Inamullah Khan heard the writ petition. The petitioner’s counsel, Advocate Shah Faisal Nasapi, informed the court that his client, Engineer Sheeda Khan Muhammad, had served as deputy director in the Mines and Minerals Department and retired in 2018.
However, even after eight years, his benevolent fund has yet to be released. The counsel stated that the petitioner had approached all relevant forums, but officials continued to delay the payment through unnecessary tactics, causing severe hardship. Left with no other option, the petitioner approached the court for relief.
