Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi on Saturday formally inaugurated a modern IT marquee established at the Governor House under the Prime Minister Youth Programme (PMYP).
The ceremony was attended by PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Bashir Memon, Raja Ansari and PMYP Sindh Coordinator Dr Fahad Shafiq.
After the inauguration, the governor inspected modern computers and other IT equipment at the marquee.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the PMYP was an effective platform for equipping youth with modern IT skills, enabling them to become economically self-reliant.
He remarked that under the programme, youths would not only receive training but would also be provided with laptops, business loans, scholarships, employment opportunities and access to sports facilities. He added that vocational and technical training would be offered in more than 200 fields under the PMYP.
He stated that students completing these courses would be awarded recognised certificates by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), enabling them to secure better employment opportunities at both national and international levels.
Talking to the media, Hashmi said an IT revolution would be introduced across Sindh, and every young individual would be equipped with modern education. He said his vision was to transform the entire province, from Karachi to Kashmore, into a major IT hub to create better employment opportunities for youth.
The IT education under the PMYP had formally begun in Sindh and would prove to be a milestone for the future of young people, he maintained.
Discussing regional and global developments, the governor said the contributions of the Pakistani armed forces toward global peace were commendable.
He appreciated the efforts of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for promoting peace in the region. He said the international community was acknowledging the peace message of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and it had projected a positive image of Pakistan.
The PMYP chairman and Memon also addressed the ceremony.
