LAHORE : Meesaq Centres have provided various legal services to as many as 6,803 minority citizens during the current year, the Lahore Police spokesperson said on Saturday.
In a statement issued here, the spokesperson said that 435 character certificates had been issued to non-Muslim citizens through Meesaq Centres established in the provincial capital.
He added that 4,107 general police verifications had also been completed at these centres.
The spokesperson further said that the centres had registered 47 criminal reports, five lost reports and five reports related to vulnerable persons. Copies of FIRs were also provided to 47 applicants during this period.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that Meesaq Centres played a key role in safeguarding the rights of minority communities.
He said that these centres are ensuring the prompt redressal of complaints lodged by minority citizens.
Lahore Police spokesperson added that Meesaq Centres are a practical manifestation of community-friendly policing, reaffirming that the protection of life, property and places of worship of all minorities, including the Christian community, is being ensured at all costs.
