LAHORE The Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab has taken an important decision to eliminate vacant posts across the province.

In this regard, PHED official sources said that the department has sought complete data of vacant posts from colleges and directorates.

As per the instructions issued by the department, details of all the posts remaining vacant since 2024 have been sought, including posts from Grade 1 to 16. According to sources, under this initiative, it is likely to eliminate the vacant posts of non-teaching staff, while the aim of this decision is to reduce government expenditure.

The Higher Education Department has directed all the concerned institutions to provide the required data within a day, so that the future course of action can be finalized. Sources say that a rationalisation policy is likely to be prepared on the basis of the data obtained.

As a result, significant changes are expected in the administrative structure of educational institutions.
