LAHORE : Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, after a significant decrease in prices of petroleum products, has started immediate steps to reduce transport fares.
The minister issued instructions to the officers concerned to take steps to immediately reduce the fares.
He also ordered to issue a list of new fares, while special teams have been formed in all districts in this regard.
According to the Transport Department, fares are expected to decrease by up to 25 percent and all RTAs have been directed to submit a detailed report regarding the reduction in transport fares.
On the other hand, Secretary RT Lahore Rana Mohsin said on Saturday that he was in touch with various transport companies to ensure an immediate reduction in fares.
Bilal Akbar said that the situation is improving and the government is committed to providing maximum relief to the people.
He added that as soon as the prices of petroleum products came down, steps were taken to reduce transport fares.
He also made it clear that no concessions would be made to those charging excessive fares and steps would be taken to provide further relief.
