LAHORE: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) has been dismissed from service over allegations of misuse of authority and maintaining an inappropriate relationship with a woman, according to official sources.
An inquiry report stated that DSP Hassan developed an illicit relationship with a female complainant during the investigation of her case. The report further revealed that the officer allegedly lured the woman with promises of resolving her cases and held private meetings with her.
Sources said the woman had filed a harassment complaint against DSP Hassan in 2023, after which multiple inquiries were conducted at different stages. In the initial inquiry, DIG Amin Bukhari recommended a minor penalty. However, following the complainant’s request for a reinvestigation, Additional IG MIdrees conducted a detailed review of all aspects of the case. A third inquiry was later assigned to Additional IG Imran Mahmood, where DSP Hassan again failed to prove his innocence.
Both senior level inquiries recommended his dismissal from service. In light of the findings of three separate inquiry officers, IG Punjab Abdul Karim issued orders for DSP Hassan’s dismissal. Sources added that DSP Hassan has filed an appeal against the decision with the Home Department.
