Rawalpindi : On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Rawalpindi, Asad Shirazi, chaired a meeting with transporters to review reduction in fares following the recent decrease in fuel prices.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various transport unions, relevant officials, and stakeholders.

Speaking on the occasion, Shirazi said that providing maximum relief to the public remains a top priority of the Punjab government, adding that the benefits of reduced fuel prices must be passed on directly to commuters.

He directed transporters to ensure an immediate and visible reduction in fares and to display updated fare lists at prominent locations for passenger awareness.

A zero-tolerance policy against overcharging was also emphasized.

It was decided that the implementation of revised fares would be strictly monitored, and legal action would be taken in case of violations.

The field teams have been mobilized to check compliance across various routes.

Shirazi further stated that the district administration will continue taking all necessary steps to safeguard public interest and ensure transparency and discipline in the transport sector, addressing complaints related to overcharging.
