Rawalpindi : District Health Authority Rawalpindi has finalized arrangements for a three-day anti-polio campaign under National Immunization Day (NID) in the district that is being launched from tomorrow (Monday).
Chief Executive Officer DHA Rawalpindi Dr Ehsan Ghani informed ‘The News’ on Saturday that the health department is fully prepared for the upcoming NID Polio Campaign scheduled from April 13 to 16, 2026. He added that the campaign will operate under a 3+1 Modality, with door-to-door activities from April 13th to 15th and a catch-up activity on April 16th.
He added that the administrative target, overall target for the upcoming polio campaign is 977,781 children below five years of age, with a household target of 719,841 children. Key readiness activities, including the District Polio Eradication Committee (DPEC) meeting, training of staff including area in-charges and union council coordinators, communication and social mobilization activities and training of front-line workers have already been completed successfully, said Dr. Ghani.
It is important to mention here that as may as 403 cases of polio have been reported in Pakistan in the last 10 years, from 2016 to 2025 while in the year 2026, so far, one case of polio from the Sindh province has been reported in the country.
Talking of the human resources and training for Polio campaign to be launched on Monday, the CEO DHA said the campaign involves 4215 mobile teams, 686 area in-charges (AICs), 233 fixed teams, and 176 transit teams across 188 union councils (UCs) in seven tehsils of the district including Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Rawalpindi Cantonment Area, Rawalpindi City, Rawalpindi Rural and Taxila. He added that all frontline workers have completed their training.
