MSF briefs minister on projects in KP

PESHAWAR: The representatives of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) also known as Doctors Without Borders briefed Minister for Health Khaleeq Ur Rehman on their ongoing projects and interventions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

An official handout said that the minister chaired a meeting with the Country Head of MSF at the Health Department here. Secretary Health Shahidullah Khan was also present.MSF, an international humanitarian organization, has been providing medical assistance to populations affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and limited access to healthcare, and has been working in Pakistan since 1986.

It was highlighted that MSF continued most of its regular activities in KP during 2025, particularly its work on Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) at three key locations: Bannu, Peshawar, and Dogra.

The MSF team also informed that the satellite clinic in Badabher has been closed.The minister appreciated MSF’s contributions in various areas, including the CL program, primary healthcare services, OPD consultations in Tirah, nutritional screening, vaccination, and maternal and child healthcare services at Dogra Hospital, Bara.

He termed these efforts as commendable and beneficial for the local population.Khaleeq Ur Rehman assured full support and facilitation from the Health Department to strengthen collaboration with MSF. He emphasized that the government was committed to working with MSF to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services across the province. The minister assured MSF of the department’s support in addressing key operational challenges, including issues related to NOCs, human resources, and hospital upgradation.
