KARACHI: A delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, met with Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho at the Central Police Office Karachi.
Officials said the 17-member delegation was attended by the president and members of chambers of commerce and industry and business organisations from different cities of the Sindh province.
The meeting discussed the overall law and order situation in the province and security measures for businesses and industries. The delegation expressed satisfaction with the overall law and order for business activities in the province and described it as exemplary compared to the past.
The meeting was informed that establishment of law and order is very important for business. Compared to the past, we are now doing business in a better and more conducive environment, said the FPCCI vice president.
The delegation said our national highways are now completely safe. Kandhakot, Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad and other routes of Kutcha region have been made safe for goods vehicles day and night. Moreover, inter-provincial and inter-district transport has received significant protection from the Najat Mehran operation against robbers in Kutcha areas.
In addition to providing protection to women traders in industries and business markets, special arrangements should be made to solve the problems faced by them, said the president of the Women Chamber of Commerce Malir.
After the operation in Kutcha, business activities are increasing rapidly in Sukkur and Larkana, President Larkana Chamber of Commerce Khair Muhammad Sheikh said and added that the Safe City Project should be started immediately in Sukkur and Larkana.
Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho said the credit for establishing law and order in the province goes to the Sindh government, Sindh Police team and all other stakeholders.
After becoming the IGP, he said, his first priority was to eliminate the no-go areas from the Kutcha areas, and the Sindh government provided resources and powers to achieve that objective.
He added that since January, about 280 dacoits have surrendered. The ongoing bloody tribal conflicts in the Kutch areas are also now coming to an end.
In the future, the Sindh police are going to strengthen the highway patrol and make the highways more secure.
Moreover, safe highways are a means of promoting trade. Karachi is an economic hub and port city, and it is the joint responsibility of all of us to keep it safe, he remarked.
The IGP said the traders and industrialists have always supported the government and Sindh police. More than 40,000 cameras have been installed in the city with the help of traders.
Women Protection Cells established in DIG offices will be given responsibility for solving the problems of women traders and industrialists.
