PESHAWAR: The immigration authorities at the Bacha Khan International Airport stopped provincial minister Meena Khan Afridi from departing for Germany to attend the function of a university there.
The minister got the boarding pass and completed other formalities but was not allowed to fly when he reached the immigration counter. He said the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration officials did not let him go abroad despite the order of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
“I was invited by a German university. Progress was made with them on many things for the universities and students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. MoUs were being finalised for the welfare of the KP youth,” Meena Khan said in a video from the airport. He added it was unfortunate that the PHC order was not complied with while youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were being deprived of an opportunity.
“My name was placed on the Provisional National Identification List and the court directed the officials concerned to remove it from the list. I was stopped from going abroad and my name was also placed on the Passport Control List and my passport was made inactive, ignoring the court order,” he added.
